Motorcycle Repair: Clutch Not Disengaging Fully, material compounds, clutch pack

Question
1984 Honda 1200cc GoldWing
Problem:
Clutch does not disengaged totally.
Repairs made by repair shop:
-New clutch plates.
-New Hydraulic Lines.
-New (both) hydraulic cylinders.
-New pivot at clutch end.
-Clutch has full compression travel and still drags and first gear cannot be engaged after motor is running.  I have always used the recommended Honda engine oil.  Help?

Answer
Bob, you don't mention the mileage on the bike and if all parts were OEM Honda items. Did you do all this work to fix a sudden problem or did it develop gradually?

Clutch drag generally comes from:
Steel plates that are not flat. This clutch has a special B plate that goes into the middle of the clutch pack.
Friction plates that have agressive material compounds. Using Barnett or other aftermarket parts may cause difficulties.
Worn/bent clutch release parts.
Worn inner and outer clutch hubs (due to clutch tabs wearing grooves in the retaining slots).
Worn clutch outer bushing causing the clutch assy to wobble on the end of the transmission shaft.
