Motorcycle Repair: Yamaha FZR 1000 Engine, yamaha fzr 1000, cylinder compression

Question
Hi,
I have a 1992 Yamaha FZR 1000 with 8500miles. Last summer it started stalling on me while riding. It would stop suddenly and then be hard to start. I had to be trailered home more then once. I pulled the plugs and they didn't look too bad, still had a grey color to them.
Over the winter I started to disassemble things looking for a reason. I thought I found the problem to be a plugged fuel strainer downstream of the main fuel filter at the inlet to the fuel manifold. I continued to look around and I found coolant sitting on top of the intake valves.
Is this what I think it is, 'warped cyclinder head'?

Help,
Bob

Answer
Hi Bob,

Perform the following tests:

Cylinder compression
Leak-down
Cooling system pressure

These tests will revela what you suspect and locate source of the leak, if any. Once you know test results, continue from there.

If you need more intel reference how to perform these tests, send me your email address as requested. I'll =return tech files to assist you.
