Motorcycle Repair: clutch/ 66 honda s90, engine oil viscosity, honda s90

Question
having a problem with my clutch. if i get it ajusted so it want bang into gears and not pull away on its own, well then its slips on the road. does this mean the plates are warped? i have had motorcycles for a long time and was always able to adjust the clutch but this one seams to need more travel in the clutch arn than the cable can give it.thanks john
