Motorcycle Repair: Motorcycle Kits ..., diretions, kawasi

Question
Hi MIke,

Sorry if this is the second one you recieve, but I seemed to hit a button that may ahve sent the original email while I was still drafting it ... now, my question.

I would liketo build a motorcycle from a kit and wondered if there was one you recommend.  I owned a 88 Kawasi, 750R back in the day, and did the minor maintenance on it.  I consider myself resonalbly handy, if I have the right tools.

I believe with clear diretions and diagrams, I could do this ... to me, building it may be more satisfying than just buying it off the rack.

Do you know any good kits for beginners?  I live in Ontario, so import laws / certification rules in Ontario would apply.  What is the cost of such a kit?

Your thoughts would be appriciated.

Thanks CK

Answer
There are many kits out there, i sell 5 different kits myself, to choice from. What you need to look at is your needs. What are you going to do on the bike, long distance or short hops? After that, what do you wnat the bike to look like? What size motor?
I dont really think there are any kits for begginers. If you look at all the kits, everyone says " needs to be assembled by a qualified mech". The other problem is I dont know any that comes with directions. You are expected to know how to assemble them!
Kits have different price ranges. My cheapest is around 13,000. I have seen some as high as 25,000. So you see the sky is the limit.
Shop around on the internet and you can find many kits. Just remember, when buying a kit you are stuck with the parts they send you instead of buying your own parts and getting what you want.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
