Motorcycle Repair: 1995 yzf600r, drum groove, output shaft

Question
Teansimission goes to neutral under load in second gear only! All other gears ok

Answer
Hi J Schultz,

This is the result of wear on dogs and cogs of transmission gears. These cogs/dogs slide together and mate. When the edges on these cogs become rounded, they slip apart. Very common problem between 1st and 2nd gears associated with aggressive riding habits and improper shifting.
