Motorcycle Repair: 1994 honda cbr f2, transmission gears, honda cbr

Question
Hi,I own a 1994 honda cbr 600f2.I am having problems with 2nd gear, the bike will shift fine into 2nd but under accel it slips into neutral everytime, about 5500rpm under normal accel. The oilpan is droped and visual from there is clear. The clutch needs rebuilt but im sure that would not cause this sort of major loss of 2nd gear.Im not sure what to do from here please help.

                                       thanks

Answer
Hi John,

The transmission gears are damaged and need to be replaced to restore proper performance/operation.

Transmission gears on MC's consist of fixed gears, free wheeling (spinning) gears, and sliding gears. Some gears have dogs and cogs, little tabs and slots cast into their designs which allow them to transfer energy when connected. When these dogs/cogs edges become rounded, sliding gears slip out of mesh from their mating gears resulting with the transmission finding Neutral.

The primary cause of the problem is hard shifting from agressive riding.

Usually multiple gears, forks, and sometimes main or counter shaft needs replaced. Very expensive repair and best left to the experienced tech.
