Motorcycle Repair: Yamaha XJ700 Maxim Vandalized, gauge sets, ebay

Question
My 1985 Yamaha XJ700 Maxim was stolen and then found. Who would want to steal a 20 y/o bike, is beyond me. Regardless, whoever stole it ripped appart the tach, speedo, and ignition trying to get it started. I'm having a really hard time finding parts to replace it and i'm just about ready to take it to a junk yard.

Is there any way i can use a tach/speedo/ignition from another bike to make some sort of franken-cycle? The bike isn't worth more than $700, so I'd hate to spend more than a few 100 trying to fix it.

Thanks for the help

Answer
Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear about the theft of your MC.

You may have a harder time and spend more cash trying to make non-maxim gauges work on your MC.

Keep an eye on EBay for gauge sets. Here's a start:
