" hi, i have a 1976 honda cb750f. the problem i have is the fuse blew for good.
1. i ride only with the main fuse, if i put the headlight fuse in the main gets super hot. so when the fuse blows i put in a new one.
2. the major problem of why this email is being sent. the fuse blew again but this time not even a new fuse works...bike dead
so where do i start.
i'm pretty decent with mechanical but when it comes to electrical not so good.

Hi Tony.
I hope you've got the repair manual, because you will need it.  You have a short in the system.

Fuses heat up and blow because of shorts.  That is what they are designed to do.  This warns you of a problem without ruining the system or other components.

Start at the headlight and check the entire circuit for shorts as well as the main from power to fuse.  Also look for anywhere that the wires are grounding against the frame or other metal components of the bike.  Use a meter as well as do a visual inspection.  You will need to check for hidden as well as obvious shorts.

Good luck.

Answer
Hi Tony.
Ok.  Since you have power, then you could have a bad starter solenoid or a short or bad connection in the starter circuit somewhere between power and solenoid.

You will need to check the starter switch for clean contact and the wires to and from the switch from power to the switch and to the solenoid from the switch.

Good luck.
