Motorcycle Repair: 1982 GL1100 headlight, vetter fairing, gl1100

I need to know how to remove the headlight assembly to install a chrome ring.  Having trouble getting the headlight out.  The owners manual can't help me.  Any help is appreciated.  I have a 1982 GL1100.  Thanks

Hi John,

I've always had difficulty with the Vetter fairing headlights. You may have to remove the fairing to do the task.

How far along are you with removal? What's holding up the task?
