QuestionFalcon! I have a 1982 Honda Goldwing, it has 53,000 miles on it.I have repair do small repairs, breaks,new water pump, replaced battery etc. I have two question. 1)I have had to fix my starter 2 times in two years. Each time I found a wire burned into.It was not the same wire each time. What could be causing this problem? 2) On my transmission when you are not in gear green light should come on. This does not happen, but it will sometimes come on in other gears. I like doing my own work, but I do not have a lot of know how? Thanks for your time!

The first thing that I will tell you is to get the repair manual. It will answer far more questions than you thought you had.
Second, as far as the wires, look for anywhere that they could be shorting or grounding.
Third, on the neutral light, the problem is that the switch is most likely faulty or the sensor is faulty.
I am not certain how easy this switch is to replace on the GL, but it may end up being better off just dealing with that problem untill you absolutely need to. The repair manual will show how difficult or easy it is to access.
