Motorcycle Repair: Carb, seasonal storage, valve adjustment

Question
Chris,

I just bought a 94 Suzuki DR350S.  It seems to cut out at higher RPM's, kinda like it is running out of gas.  I am guessing it is a carb problem and probably needs at least a rebuild kit.  Is this something I could do myself or do I need to take it to a shop?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Kevin

Answer
Hi Kevin.
It could be a carb problem or a fuel flow problem.  Check your fuel lines for blockage and get the carb cleaned if the bike spends time in seasonal storage every year.  When was the last time that a full tuneup and valve adjustment and timing was done?  It may be due if it hasn't been done in more than 6 months.

Start with that and see what you find.
Good luck.
