Motorcycle Repair: EMS Light on Triumph TT600, triumph dealer, triumph tt600

Question
We just changed the spark plugs and the oil and now the EMS light is on and she is running in limp mode and we have checked every lead and connection we can find.  Have you any ideas on where we might start apart from a Triumph Dealer? We are at a complete loss.   We did replace the spark plugs with Irridium ones - do Triumphs hate them?  Its a TT600 2001.  Any suggestions will be really appreciated.  Yea I ride 7/7 too.

Answer
Hi Sandy.
At first, I thought that the problem could be the sensor, but when I saw that you had change the type of plug, I started thinking that it could be the plugs.

I've found that many bikes are sensitive to changes from factory recommendations for some replacement parts.  I tried it with my V65 by changing the tail/brake light to one of the LED lights and my taillight failure light came on.  Go figure.

So start by replacing the plugs with the recommended plugs and see if that solves the problem.  If not, then you may have a bad sensor or a short in the wiring.

Good luck.
