Motorcycle Repair: 1967 CL77305, bronze bushings, swing arms

Question
Bill, a local fella here in Denver has my 1967 305 Scrambler torn apart to repaint the frame. He says he messed up two bronze bushings for the rear tire/frame. Can you give me a Honda part number and a possible source for these NOS, please? (I'm the guy that traded you the mint, original 250 emblems about 1.5 years ago!) THANKS!

Answer
Aloha, Larry... I remember the badge deal, thanks!

Honda didn't put bronze bushings in the swing arms, so your may have been aftermarket replacements.

There are 4 stepped bushings, called Bushing "A" P/N 52101-273-000 for the early small brake models. Those may have been either bakelite or steel. Then, two pivot bushings run inside the center of these bushings and turn on the rear fork bolt. Center bushings are P/N 52141-273-000.
The big brake (double leading shoe) models had a different swing arm than the early ones (change at CL77-1014496) and the first part number doesn't apply to the late bikes, according to the parts books. There could be an error in the parts books, however.

Check with my buddy, Roger, south of Denver at egor27@aol.com and see what he has, depending on your series of CL77. Other sources are www.ohiocycle.com and www.westernhillshonda.com

Ed Moore in TX is a whiz at CLs.. contact him at emo@ktc.com

A competent machinist could make some replacements from bronze fairly easily, if you have one left for a model.
