Motorcycle Repair: zzr600e, combustion chambers, leak down test

Question
hi i own a zzr600e and have recently had the engine changed i was told the engine has done about 21000 miles is there any thing i should look for to tell how old it is also can you fit a d model engine in a e model bike thanx...

Answer
Hi Mitchell,

I've been out of the dealerships and roadracing for awhile now and haven't performed that engine swap. You might find someone who has made the swap on a website dedicated to your MC. Perform a internet search and see.

Mileage is not a true gauge to the wear of an engine. Odometers do not record idle time, measured in hours and minutes as with heavy equipment. To help determine the condition of an engine, especially the sealing properties of the combustion chambers, perform a cylinder compression test and leak-down test.
