Motorcycle Repair: Kawasaki monoshock, rear shock, money visit

Question
Mark-
My bike is a 2001 Vulcan 800 A. 20,000 miles. In the spring when I start riding, the shock is fine. As the weather warms up, the shock gets softer and softer. Towards fall and cold weather it starts to stiffen up again. The bike is never ridden double up. This is the stock shock. This has happened the last 2 seasons. Normal? Time for a new/different shock?
                   Thanks, Pete

Answer
Hi Pete,

No, that's not normal for a rear shock. The suspension should be constant. You can try and adjust the rear shock and see if the problem improves. If you decide to replace it, don't buy OEM (Kaw). Instead, look for a much better Ohlins, Fox, Progressive, or other quality brand. It's well worth the money. Visit www.vorc.com and ask other riders what they use.
