Motorcycle Repair: top end, viable solution, carbs

hello Falcan;I have A 85 Suzuki 700 madura v4.the bike has been In storage 4 years.I cleaned the tank and the carbs 4 of them never messed with the settings.bike fired seems to run smoth but when I try to get it to Idle at about one thou it won't stay. Ride it seems to run fine up to 60 miles per that is it no matter what I do.would apreciate any help.thank you Jerry

Hi Jerry.
 Well, there's a few things to check here.

1)  When you were done cleaning the carbs and had the bike started up again, did you synchronise the carbs?  That could have a part in the problem.

2)  Have you made sure that the valve gap and timing is correct as per the specs in the repair manual?

4)  Do you have the original manifolds on the bike?  If so, then you, quite likely, have a manifold leak which is allowing air to enter the system after the carb; and that will create problems with the idle.  If so, then replace the manifolds with new ones.  There is no other viable solution in that case.

Start with those and let me know what you find.
