Motorcycle Repair: cb350 stalling problems, 1973 honda cb350, carbs

Question
Chris,
My 1973 Honda cb350 is stalling out after a few minutes of riding. It starts and idles okay , but after a few minutes up the street (30mph)it bogs down , and eventually stalls . Sometimes it will rev up to high rpms , but die down after I mess with the choke.
Is the needle jets sticking?
What to do?

Thank You temendously!

Answer
Hi Rich.
If you are like most riders up north, then your bike spends time in storage during the winter.  That means that your carbs need cleaning.

The problem looks to be related to a sticking choke, but I think that other things in there are gummed up and sticking.  That explains the inconsistent idle.

Pull and clean the carbs properly and the problem should go away.

Good luck.
