BMW Repair: 99 528I alarm problem, tilt sensor, vehicle battery

Question
Every time I push the key button to open the doors to get in the car the alarm goes off.  I can even use the key in the lock to open the door and it still goes off.  I have replaced the battery in the key, but still the problem persists. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Answer
Bill you must make sure the vehicle battery is in good condition. Low battery voltage can cause issues with the vehicle alarm system sense the alarm battery is charged by the vehicle battery. Do the hazard flashers go off when the alarm is triggered? Take the car to the dealer to read out the alarm counter memory. If the memory reveals that a component is triggering the alarm (hood switch, tilt sensor, interior motion sensor, etc.) then replace it. If the alarm counter has no component logged. Or if the previous component loggged and replaced doesn't remedy the problem then please replace the actual siren in the fender well.
