Motorcycle Repair: Sporty primeray cases, ironhead, clutch

Hi,
I've got a 85 Ironhead 1000cc Sporty sitting on my bike lift, ALL allenheads, inspection plugs are out but the cover will not come off, seems to be hanging up at the rear...any suggestions?

Others I've done have come off easy as...

P.S. I do have at my disposal a 18LB sledgehammer...

You forgot to remove the clutch adjuster. It wont come off without removing that. Looking in the rear inspection cover you will see the adjuster screw and locknut. Loosen the locknut and remove the adjuster and the adjuster holder. There is a spring in ther also. Once that is done the cover will come off.
