Motorcycle Repair: Carb replacement, stock carb, bone stock

Good morning Johnny.  I own a 99 wide glide TC88.  I want to change the carb but, don't know whether to go with S&S or Mikuni.  The engine is bone stock but, I've put Vance & Hines short shots on it and the Screamin Eagle(K&N) breather kit on it.  I've also jetted the stock carb with a Head-Quarters jet kit.  It's running good now but, better performance would be great.  I've heard that the carb change alone would make huge performance gains without tearing down my engine.  What would you suggest?  Also, with a carb change would I have to do any timing or ignition changes?

Hi LOU.
the Mikuni 42 carb is light years better then the old S&S E or G carb. and you do not have to change timing or ignitions with a carb change. as far as performance. If you are looking for this. First trash the JUNK Vance and Hines Short shot or long shots or give me 5 shots so I wont cry on how bad them pipes hert the performance of your motor. Install a White Brothers E-Series 2 into 1 exhaust system and your bike will sing like it just got laid by wonder women.
