Motorcycle Repair: Sportster xlh 883,2003, xlh 883, belt tension

Question
Any comments on using a lowering kit on an 03 xlh Specifically the rear ? Also ,Doing all required maintainence as far as the 5,000,10,000 ,etc, mile check up,s .I Think if I did these my self,I would know my bike better.Back to the lowering kit. Does the belt tension need to be checked ?

Answer
Lowering the rear end will and not the front will change the rake of the bike. SO in other words it will throw the front end out a little more. It will make the bike run straight down the road better, but will make it a little harder to turn.
You should be able to do the maintance yourself. Just follow the service manual andyou will be fine.
No you dont need to check the belt tension. You are not changing the swinging arm.
Good luck and happy riding
