Jesse, I think the kickstarter stopper in the cover got broken when you let the lever snap back. Somewhat common in all of the 350/360/450 twins. There is an engagement gear that is on a pinion which comes out and grabs the kickstart shaft, which is now being slightly engaged all the time.

Go to http://www.powersportspro.com/partsfish/login.asp

register and search the CB360T microfiche, then check the transmission section for some ideas of what things look like in there. A quality repair manual is a very good idea before you dive in there for repairs. In a worse case scenario you will have to split the cases and get the stop heli-arced again, if that is what broke off inside.

DO NOT continue to drive the bike as long as the buzzing noise is there, as it will wear out the k/s parts and the filings will go into the oil and through the engine.

Do get the correct gasket, a new seal to open up the right side cover.. plus replacement oil. You may find aftermarket gasket kits or go to www.westernhillshonda.com for online assistance. Check the product code 369 for parts listings.

Hello again Bill,
Is the CB360T the same engine as the CL360KO (which is the one I think I have)? I'm also assuming that the 369 code is for the CB as well because mine is the 370 code. If so are there any other cross refernece bikes that used the same engine as the CL that you know of?
Does the job at hand sound like a weekend job or afternoon job?
Again thank you for your time,
Jesse

Answer
Jesse, the 360 motors are pretty much all the same, other than the CJ360 has a 5 speed instead of 5 speed trans, plus no electric starter. Your 370 code relates more to the chassis parts unique to the CL version.

Pulling the side cover for inspection of the outer k/s parts is an afternoon, assuming that you can get all the fasteners out... get an impact driver before you begin!

If the case is damaged and can't be welded with the motor in place, then you are into a weekend+ task, as the motor has to be removed, all the clutch side parts pulled, then the alternator side parts pulled off, then split the cases.
Once you replace/repair the damage, you will have to clean the mating surfaces and then buy some 3 Bond liquid gasket sealer to carefully reseal the case halves before continuing with other reassembly. Shop manuals may be found on Ebay or www.helminc.com or www.motorcyclememories.com
