Motorcycle Repair: valve adjustment, combustion chambers, tolorance

Question
I have a 1979 susuki 550L  and there is no tolorance between the cam and the shim.the rings are fine with a wet test but I went to adjust the valves and there is no clearance between the valve and the shim and there should be 3-8mm gap now I need to know if I have other problems.
Do you have a answer for this [problem)

thank you

Answer
Hi Dean,

You'll have to install smaller shims to gain the proper valve lash (clearances). If there's no clearance install a smaller size shim and recheck clearances. Install smaller or thicker shims until you get clearances within specs.

Perform a cylinder compression and leak-down tests to check sealing properties of combustion chambers.
