Motorcycle Repair: motorcycles, yamaha tzr 125, float valve

Question
hi i seem to be having problems with my yamaha tzr 125 its L reg and I've recently had the cervo fixed on it.The problem is that its only running at about 4500rpm and wont go no quicker than about 25mph and i know it does about 85mph but when i turn the fuel to the off position it will run fine until obviously the fuel runs out,I'm thinking that it might be flooded. So how can i fix it if it is flooded.

Answer
Hi Richard.
You may want to check the float valve on the carb.  Also, verify that it is flooding by checking the plug.  it will be blackened and maybe wet as well.

Another thing that it could be is the fuel valve.  Make sure that it is not staying open when the bike is turned off.  That could also cause the bike to run badly.

Let me know what you find.
Good luck.
