Motorcycle Repair: 1972 Triumph Electrical, fuse panel, triumph tiger

Question
Hi,
I have a 1972 Triumph Tiger 650.  My bike has been in storage over the winter - when I put the battery back in, I'm getting a spark as if I'm mixing up the positive and negative terminals.  Any ideas - seems strange that it would develop a short from sitting over the winter.  Any ideas where to look? Thanks!

Answer
Justin,
Mild sparking is normal until tight contact is made at the terminals.  If you are still at odds, trace the positive terminal, it should go to the stator AND the fuse panel.  The Negative should either lead to a grounding terminal on the frame and/or a ground junction near the fuse panel.
