Motorcycle Repair: motor oil, clutch plates, honda 400

Question
What kind of oil do I need to use for a 1979 Honda 400 street bike?

Answer
Hi Toby,

The kind of oil used depends on your climate. If you live say, in Ohio like me, you can use 10W40 or 10W30. The oil's properties allow it to work and flow well in my climate's temperatures.

When shoping for oil, read labels. They should have a chart or graph with temp ranges and the oil that should be used. If not, ask the parts guy for asistance.

Avoid synthetic oils not specifically labeled for motorcycles. They may harm the clutch plates, or effect how these plates work.
