Motorcycle Repair: Electrical Problem, 1991 suzuki gs500e, turn signals

Question
I just bought a 1991 Suzuki GS500E from my son.  The bike sat idle for the past 6 months, covered up in his yard.  I charged up the battery and when I turn on the key the only thing I get is I get a blue and green indicator light.  No headlights, tail lights, turn signals, horn, and the starter will not invoke.  I do not have a repair manual (yet) and am anxious to get the bike running.  Where do I begin?  Thanks...

Answer
Hi George,

The place to begin is with the purchase of the service manual. They pay for themselves with the first home repair. Some are available at local libraries and AutoZone stores.

You'll have to trace circuits and test components until you find the problem.

I could not return electrical repair & test information files because there was no email included with the question.
