Motorcycle Repair: oil, mobil 1 synthetic oil, honda vtx

Hi Mark,
My question is: Should I stop using Mobil 1 synthetic oil (bleu cap for colder temp. and red cap for summer) in my Honda Vtx 1800cc retro 2002 since they apparently change recently the formula and aded additives that might cause problems with the cluth. If so, do you know another good quality synthetic oil that will do a good job for around the same price?

Hi Marc,

I'm not familar with the Red cap Mobil 1. Use your best judgement and share with me anything you know about this new recipe. I'll share it with others who ask.

I've used Blue cap 100% synthetic for years in my cars and trucks.  Mobil 1 introduced synth oil decades ago. Others bulked at their discovery. Mobil 1 remains ahead of the curve in this area.

If you have to switch brands, choose name brand oil. Look for the "OK for clutches" (it may read other) on the label.
