Motorcycle Repair: suzuki savage 650, suzuki savage 650, vent tubes

Question
i have a savage 650 and its playing up. i filled it up and as soon as i did it started to pack up. fuel came out of 2 pipes that lead of the carb. it will run for a small time but then starts to die on me. i increase the throttle to give it a bit more, which it does but then cuts out. can you please help me out!

Answer
Hi Paul,

From your description, I suspect fuel is flowing out of the carburetor's atmospheric vent tubes. This happens when the float valve (needle valves) are sticking. Possible causes are: gas varnisihing, spec of rust between the valve and valve seat, worn or defective valve.

The carbs must be removed and cleaned. Inspect needle valves and correct problem.
