Motorcycle Repair: handle bars, oblong hole, handlebars

Question
I have a 2001 FLSTCI and I want to put the wires in my handle bars. I've heard of a couple of ways to do it but I want as much info as possible please help...THANX

The simplest way that I have found is to first locate where the wires contact the handlebars. Make a mark there. Now remove the handlebars. Drill a hole where you put the mark. Make it big enough for the wires. Now go to the center of the bars and drill two holes about 1/2 inch apart on the bottom of the handlebars. Cut the metal between them. WHat you are doing is making a oblong hole. Now feed the wires, after you have disconnected them, through the holes to the center of the bars and pull them through. Reconnect them and your all set.
