Motorcycle Repair: getting it started, honda cbr600f4, storage period

winters over im trying to start up my bike a honda cbr600f4 wont start but tries to.  backed fired  a couple times.not fuel injected.kept trying til battery dies then charge then tried again.how do i put starting fluid in or is there another way. help!

Hi Mark.
Did you leave fuel in the system over the winter storage period?  If you did, then you probably have gummed up carbs.
This would prevent fuel from getting into the engine correctly, if at all and would definitely cause starting as well as running problems.  You would also need to get rid of the old fuel and use fresh fuel.

The quick solution would be to spray some carb cleaner thru the carbs and hope that it clears up, but most likely you will have to pull and properly clean the carbs.
