Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki GS550 Carburator problem, suzuki gs550e, suzuki gs550

Question
I have a 1980 Suzuki GS550E that pours gasoline into the air box while it is running. It sounds like it is running on three cylinders when it is cold but smooths out (somewhat) when it warms up. The fuel pours out all the time though. The local dealer will not help (too old a bike). They recommended the local mr. fix it, who supposedly rebuilt the carbs but it has the same problem $200 later and he is no help as he is drunk most of the time!
So that leaves me and a Clymer manual to try and figure out the problem. I am the original owner and the bike has never had any mechanical repairs other than a new igniter years ago and occasional tune-ups and oil changes when it was being used all the time. It has 17,000 miles on it and has been garaged all the time. It is in pristine condition and I would love to be able to ride it again. Any help would be appreciated including parts sources. Thanks!
Keith.

Answer
Hi Keith,

You need to clean the carbs again and make some adjustments. It may be necessary to buy carb kits. They cost between $10-20 per carb, includes everything, but floats and diaphragms.

Send me your email address as requested and I'll return files to help you clean and tune the carbs. These files are very detailed and compiled from years of experience. Follow direction carefully. Remember, every pinhole in the carbs is critical to proper operation. You must do a thorough cleaning. It's easy, but takes a little time if you're new to it. You can get by without special tools.

Don't let duhmb-ass work on your MC again. :)
