Motorcycle Repair: Choke, honda cb750 custom, motorcycle scene

Question
Hey Falcon...  Just got a Old 81 Honda CB750 Custom.  I know in the winter you have to pull the choke up to get the engine warmed up but in the summer it still stalls if I don't pull the choke and rev the engine.  Usually I have to pull the choke to the top and start it and pull back on the throddle.  I usually hold the throddle for a minute or so until it can hold on it's own or else it idles and I have to go through it all over again.  Is this supposed to happen or could there be something with the choke or what?  I know if the engine is not warm I gotta go through this but in the summer it hot and I still got to pull the choke or it idles.  I am fairly new to the Motorcycle scene (This is my first bike) so be easy on me.  Peace and Blessings.

Answer
Hi Ab.
Hey, I'm easy on everyone, unless they deserve otherwise.:)

You have yourself a grand old girl there.

The CB series was one of the best that Honda produced in the mid 70's to early 80's.  Comparable  to the Magna, even.

The down side to those bikes was the cold-blooded nature of the machine.  I am in Florida, and even here, I needed to choke it first thing in the AM when I had my CB550.  It is the nature of the beast and gives the bike some personality.  You take good care of that bike and she will run a very long time for you.

Have fun.
