Nissan Repair: brake lights wont turn off

Question
i've replaced the grommet that the switch presses against and the brake switch it's self, neither fixed the problem, my brake lights are still stuck ON, on my 1997 Nissan Altima automatic, what else could i do to fix this?

Answer
Sorry Matt,

I just realized that you meant the brake lights itself, and not the brake light indicator on your dash. So Sorry.

2 things you can check.

Have you checked the brake switch itself? Perhaps it is defective and providing power constantly to the circuit. You can check this with either a light probe or multimeter.

In some cases it is the turn signal switch, as the brake circuit goes through there.

Hope this helps -
