Nissan Repair: shifting light indicator

Question
QUESTION: hi,
I have 97 model nissan cefiro V624v. recently when I'm driving, I found that my shifting light indicator on the dash board is not working, what is the posible error what should I do?
thanks

ANSWER: Hi Rolando -

I am not sure which light you are speaking of?

Is it the indicator lights that tell you what gear you are in (PRNDL)?

Or is it your overdrive light (button on the shift gear)?

I think in either case it is the bulb, this is located behind the instrument panel, so it requires removal.

Hope this helps -

QUESTION: It is the over drive ( PRNDL2L1) Light is located on the upper side of the speedometer.
Thaks for your response.

ANSWER: Hi Rolando -

Yes, looks like you will need to replace the tiny bulb behind the instrument panel.
If you have the tools to remove the panel you probably can do it yourself. The labor for this job is 99% of the cost.

QUESTION: Hi,
Thanks for the response.
I've try to check all the tiny bolb on the panel meter, It's all ok, I tryed to locate the fuse but I cannot find. cable on the transmission is ok.
where is the possible problem?
thank you once again

Answer
Hi Rolando -

The fuse is under the driver's side dash. Should be labeled "INSTR", however, if the other lights behind the instrument panel are working, then it cannot be the fuse. they are all on the same circuit.

If you have replaced the bulb, and it is still not working, then it could be the circuit board the bulb it is attached to. This is an expensive fix, so ensure it is not the bulb. Did you do a circuit test on the bulb? Do you have an electrical tester in which you can check?
