Nissan Repair: Wiring for trailer - wierd fault

Question
QUESTION: Hi from NZ. I have a 2005 Nissan Maxima Si 3.5Auto (New Zealand & Australia model).
I recently wired up a trailer socket and tapped into the wires in the boot/trunk. Have done a few of these on various cars, no problem.
Works fine except turn indicators won't go when the engine is running - they flash once then stay off. If I just turn on the ignition but don't actually start the engine, they work perfectly?!?!
Help! It's driving me crazy.
James NZ

ANSWER: hey don't panic not so weird you need to fit a relax in the boot don't know why these cars do this but it is the same with mine when it is not running it works great when running nowt works right but it is an relatively easy fix buy the relay from the likes of ebay and either fit it yourself or pay to have it done should cost around 50 dollars to fit and around 25 dollars to buy good luck any further help just ask

QUESTION: Thanks for that.
I guess a computer somewhere is sensing too much current and thinks it's a short or fault.
I can fit a couple of relays to the indicator connections, but I will still need a good live 12v feed to run the lamps, on the other side of the relay. Any ideas where to tap into a 12v feed in the boot?
Cheers
James

ANSWER: if it was me I would run a wire form the battery just to be on the safe side I can get relays from the uk if your needing one they cost around 15 quid is yours the jeep with led lights at the back

QUESTION: Thanks for that, but no, we do have relays out here in the colonies!
Just realised there is a boot light with switch, so there must be a live feed there. Will see if that will light a 21w indicator bulb.
If so should be cool. Cheers James

PS Maxima is just a sedan with ord bulbs. But has the same 3.5 V6 as the 350z sports - goes like the clappers! J

Answer
hello try using the fog light wire as it is a brighter light they would use a heavier wire to power it up with if you need spares we can supply them to you from the uk as we have a shit load of them as scrap just ask and we shale see how much to ship out to you
