Nissan Repair: wheel stud size, wheel hub, stud size

Hi Calvin,
I managed to strip a front wheel stud on my 01 Sentra SE 2.0. Can you tell me the size of the die needed to retread the stud? Or maybe the stud size and I can research the rest? Figured it is easier to rethread it than pull the wheel hub. Thanks.

Hi Tim -

The thread size is  M12-1.25, length 42MM.

However, once the stud is stripped, the integrity is compromised. I would replace the stud. Just pound it through the hub and it will come out from the back. You do not have to remove the hub. Install the new stud from behind the hub and simply install the lug nut and tighten to secure the stud.

It's a $5 fix.
