Nissan Repair: 2000 nissan sentra DLC wont connect, obd scanner, ecu computer

Question
have a 2000 sentra SE 2.0, had a bad MAF sensor. Replaced it with a new one now the car runs fine but will not idle and the SES light will not turn off. I tried to connect an OBD scanner to it but it says it cannot connect to the DLC so i can't clear the SES. what do i do?

Answer
Hi Tom -

Assuming that all connections are solid, and you are using the correct OBD scanner (OBD II), there may be issues with the car's ECU (computer), if the 2 are not communicating.

A simple check. Turn the ignition on. The SES light should illuminate and then turn off after a few seconds (even if you have an active code). If the light remains on, then you probably have a defective ECU.

Have you tried using a different OBD?

Hope this helps -
