Nissan Repair: Motor is Slow To Turn Over, jumper cables, picup

Question
Good Evening, my son has a 2004 Frontier picup with a 4 cyl and manual transmission that he ran way to hotand the motor had to be replaced. The problem is he was away at college an brought the pickup home a couple of weeks later. The motor runs great but the motor is very slow to turn over before starting. So i am wondering if the you have any thoughts. Could the flywhhel have been warped when it got to hot? Could it be the starter? Any help would be appreciated. Chris

Answer
Hi Chris -

If the truck was sitting for a while, it is probably the battery. A good test is to tuirn the headlights on and try to start it. If the lights go out or get very dim and the noise reduces to clicking, then replace or recharge the battery.

You can also hook up jumper cables and start the car. If the car starts normally, then you can condemn the battery. Also doing this will determine if the starter needs replacement.

Hope this helps -
