Nissan Repair: No start / rough running, blown head gasket, intake manifold gasket

Question
im working on a 97 nissan altima that died one day and wound not start back up. I finally got it running after clearing out the flooded cylinders. I did an tune up and the car not even 20,000 miles ago, which included plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and fuel filter. I just replaced the spark plugs again just in case the plugs got fouled out. After i got it running again the car drove fine for about 10 minutes, then it started to run rough and proceeded to die.  Now it is having and rough time starting again aka not starting, and it has dtc P0300. Ive been reading about a possible blown intake manifold gasket, im just looking for another brain on the matter, so i can get this car out of my driveway. Thanks

Answer
Hi Jon -

Code 0300 is a multiple misfire code. This could mean a couple things, including the obvious, but I would take it one step further and guess that the misfire is caused by something else rather than just replacing the plugs, wires, etc.

First of all, have you checked the condition of the plugs after it ran for a bit? The electrodes should be tan colored. If it is black or wet, please note what cylinder it came from.

I would first suggest to take a compression test to see if you have a blown head gasket, or warped head.

Hope this helps -
and let me know
