Nissan Repair: Car Leaking, nissan maxima, white smoke

Question
Hi Calvin:

I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima with about 180,000 miles. While sitting stationary with the engine running for about an hour, I got out of the car and noticed a stream of water that I determined was dripping from my muffler. Is this something to be concerned about? Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Kevin -

When the car first starts up in the morning, or has been sitting for a while, especially when the ambient temperature is low, it is normal for the muffler to expend a little moisture. However if it continues, especially after an hour of stationary run, and if the exhaust is letting out white smoke, I would have the compression checked for your cylinders.

Hope this helps -
