Nissan Repair: fuses, digital multimeter, baterry

Question
put the key in the ignition and get a tone but no lights come on the dashboard, neither does my radio or headlights. The truck doesn't attempt to start, no clicking or anything. Can anybody help me out with my problem.

Answer
First make sure that the battery is fully charged, (12.6V). Then it is important to see if the battery terminals are clean, tight and corrosion free, especially the GROUND cable. Pay special attention to the grounds, chassis motor and body grounds! If the battery is fully charged, measure the voltage with a digital multimeter between the negative and the positive terminals and note that. Then connect the meter's red lead to the positive cable right at the starter motor under the vehicle and the black lead to the motor. You should get the exact same reading as you did when you checked the baterry. If not, then the pos cable from the batt to the starter is faulty and it needs to be replaced. If you get no reading at all, then there is a problem with the ground cable. Hope this helps and let me know what you found out after these tests.
