Nissan Repair: timing on 1989 nissan z24 engine in truck, nissan z24 engine, timing chain replacement

Question
i have all the timing marks right but it has no power and the mark on baluster is not lining up with indicator it is an inch away from it. the mark is ending up under the water pump. when U pull the dip stick out smoke comes out the crankcase.this is the first time this has happened to me. what should i do to fix the problem.

Answer
Obviously the timing chain is not install right. When this happens, the initial ignition timing cannot be set right either and there's no power. Apparently the timing in your case is late (retarded) which will cause the motor to run hot and the oil to start boiling and smoke coming out from everywhere. Do not attempt to drive the vehicle like that. The timing chain replacement on a z24 motor is very tricky and there are 3 indicator marks on the crank sprocket. If you have not done this work before please take the car to a technician to avoid further damage. If you  install the timing chain and it isn't right, the pistons may hit a bend the valves. This is in case that the problem you described is a timing gear replacement because your question is not very clear. If not, let me know!
