Nissan Repair: 2002 nissan frontier a/c and fog lamps, fog lamps, lamp sockets

Question
Recently my a/c stopped blowing out cold air. It now makes what sounds like a light hissing noise when you run the fan whether the a/c is on or not. In addition I noticed that both fog lamps weren't working either. I noticed the fog lamps weren't working about a week after the a/c quit. All were working before. Are they related? Can it be fixed DIY or a shop?

Answer
No, the fog lamps and the A/C system are not related and they don't have a common fuse or relay. Are the fog lamps the original or add on? Check the fuses corresponding to the lamps and the lamp relays. Make sure that all grounds are clean, tight and corrosion free. Verify voltage in the lamp sockets with a test light. If there's no power to them, then an open wire or a bad ground or a failed light switch or lamp relay could be the cause. Now the A/C. When the A/C blows warn air, there is a number of reasons causing that. 1.The compressor clutch does not engage because the system is low on refrigerant because of a leak. 2. A failed low pressure valve or valve electrical connections. 3. A failed receiver/dryer. 4. The compressor or compressor clutch assembly may have failed and 5, if the climate system controls are vacuum operated, a vacuum hose or hoses may been disconnected. The fan motor has a small air bypass tube that may have been disconnected and making the hissing noise. If you can verify these by running some tests on your own is fine. If not, I recommend a shop of course, but all the above can be fixed.
