Nissan Repair: Oil light flickers, competent mechanic, light flickers

My oil light flickers when idling or upon braking. I have changed filters and oil to no avail.what could be the issue?

Hello -

If you have the proper oil level. It could be 2 things.
Replace the oil sending unit first. It is relatively simple and most of the time this will do the trick.

If the light still flickers, it may be the oil pump. Since this is in the oil pan, it is a bigger job, and you will need to take it in to a competent mechanic.
