Nissan Repair: Nissan sentra 2.0 SE, nissan sentra, head gasket

Question
My car over heats in idle n while driving. In idle it takes a couple of minutes to heat up but driving it takes about 2 mins to reach the top of the heat gauge. It also has a loud fan sound when it overheats and blows air from the side of the motor.

Answer
Hi Andres -

First of all, until you find the reason for overheating do not use the car. You could blow the head gasket and then it is a couple grand to fix.

When the car is cold, fill the radiator with water and check for leaks. If there is water coming from the from of the engine (which would be the passenger side of the car), then probably the water pump is leaking. Second, remove the thermostat and see if the car runs better. Usually the thermostat is stuck when the car is overheating that fast.

Let me know what you find -

Hope this helps -
