Nissan Repair: Nissan Xterra speedometer, vehicle speed sensor, nissan xterra

Have a Nissan xterra 2001. Speedometer is no longer working.  One day later,the check engine light turned on and OD light flashed for 2 seconds once started engine. After replaced old battery, the check engine light went out immediately. Would like to know, is it the problem of speed senser or just speedo cable and how could I fix it myself.

Replace the vehicle speed sensor ad the speedometer problem should be gone. The transmission was presenting an error with the flashing light.  if it no longer flashes after the battery change would mean it reset itself.  Also, if there is no signal for the speedometer it will freak out the transmission computer.
