My son was driving his car and it just quit running and will not start back up.  Before it quit, he could be driving down the road, it would stop, but he would be able to start it again. What do I need to check or start replacing?

Hi Angie -

Can you do this test for me when the car is not starting -

Pull out a spark plug wire, insert a screwdriver in it til it wedges against the terminal inside. Hold it about 1/4" away from any metal surface and have someone try to start the car (do not touch any metal surface while doing this).

If there is no spark jumping between surfaces, then replace the ignition module located in the distributor.

If there is spark, then I would check the fuel system, fuel pump, filter.
