Nissan Repair: 1986 NIssan 300 ZX-Issues with firing after long period in storage, nissan 300 zx, 1986 nissan 300 zx

Question
I have a 1986 300 ZX 2+2 that has been parked, with a dead battery that was new in Feb 2008, and, after ample charging, I tried to crank it up.  It fired briefly then sputtered to a stop.  I let it charge again, fired it again, it repeated above.

After assuming the car was out of gas (just a hunch) I added fresh fuel and tried again.  It occurred to me that I was seeing no dash lights, heard no bells ringing, no interior lights, no radio, no A/C or fan; even when being jumped off by a good vehicle.

The power seats work, the power windows work, the lights work but nothing else.

What I am missing here and how can I get this thing started?

Answer
Don,

Check fuse links at the positive battery terminal.  Most probably one of these has melted and you are not getting power to all systems.  When the battery is low and the car is cranked the resistance in the positive side overloads and blows these.
