Nissan Repair: Resetting the Security System on a Nissan Maxima, nissan maxima, nissan dealership

Question
My car's security system went off last night evidently because this morning I cannot start my car and it's not a battery problem. I read the manual and placed the key in the ignition and into the ON position for 5 seconds and then the Lock position for 10 seconds. I repeated that twice like it said and it still won't start. I have disconnected the battery hoping that would reset the security system, but that didn't work either. Now I'm going to have to have it towed to the Nissan Dealership which isn't open today because it's Sunday. What am I suppose to do to get the car to start without towing it?

Answer
Nancy,

Sorry for being so late in answering questions.  This is a free service and I do it when I have time.  I would try the key in the drivers door to unlock the car.  If that did not work I would get the other key for the car and use it to see if it will start.  If it will not then it is the dealer or a locksmith to get the car to recognize the key and get it programmed.  If it does it again, you have a couple of things that might be causing it.  First, if you have more that one Nissan key on your ring the car can get confused.  I would have them look at the body control module (BCM) for signs of intermittent failure.
